Why Borneo : Memory of the Caves?

We have selected this book on the discovery of thousands of handprints from prehistory (14,500 years BP) for the beauty of the publication thanks to Luc-Henri Fage’s photography and personal account which lay out the first visible plastic works giving a narrative and spiritual sense to rock art. Jean-Michel Chazine draws land bridges between the first Austroasian peoples, to the island of Borneo from Australia, the land of 50,000 years of continuous occupation of Indigenous Peoples.

We read this beautiful book to begin to see art history with our eyes wide open.
